Lunch and a haircut

Last Sunday Patty, Pete, Jim (Paul's brother), Jason and I went with Paul for some good ole Mexican grub.

Here's a pic from after lunch.

Then it was time for haircut number 4 since Paul's accident. Here's Paul getting prepped.

Here we go!

Paul approves.

Jim soaks in the sun and listens to the buzz of the clippers.

And we're done! Paul forgets to tip the barber. :-)

It was a great visit, and Paul showed some progress in spelling out some longer sentences using his alphabet sheet. He also was eager to do some walking, so with some support on each side he walked several times across the patio. He is getting stronger, but it's still quite a task for him to lift his right leg. Paul is such an inspiration, and I am so grateful to be his friend.

Paul is blessed to have such good friends, those with clippers and those without. Praise God!

Paul--keep up the good and hard work. You CAN do it!

Hi Paul:

It's been 36 years since I've last seen you and wanted to drop you a note letting you know that you are in my prayers. I was so sorry to hear about your accident back in June but from the numerous updates and get well wishes ... am thrilled to see you are on the mend. I love the photos of you and it's great knowing that you are the same Paul that everyone in CR, Iowa came to love through grade school at St. Matthews and H.S. at Regis. I will always remember the Paul that pushed me in the bushes on one of the many walks home from St. Matthews school. Ray was only guilty by association and I love that I got you in trouble when I told on you (LOL).

It's so nice to see you are so successful and have so many friends who care about you. You always had that way about you! Patty sounds like a wonderful person, wife and mother and Buzz reminds me of Ray when we were at St. Matthews. I'm sure Ray has been pulling for you and watching over you. My prayers will continue to be with you and your family in Texas and here in Cedar Rapids. Keep up the good work, Paul!

Paul, you are looking so great & I can't wait until you get to come home. It was so nice to be able to see you over the weekend.

We are so looking forward to having you around and being able to see you on a regular basis. The countdown has begun and you'll be home before you know it. Keep working hard! Karen Hatfield

Paul,

I had great time visiting with you and showing you some fun stuff. Your strength & stamina astounds me! You were walking tough and laughing hard just like you used to. Great improvement, man.

Jason.
